In Pursuit of the Oasis I
Qanat, LE18 MarrakechTogether with children from the neighborhood of LE18 art space, we captured the oasis in the medina of Marrakech – a city once known as a garden-city. Oasis produce, like dates, figs, olives, pomegranates, abricots, are evidently present in every household. However the perception of the oasis itself– it’s landscapes, community and traditional, small scale agriculture– is rapidly fading from view. An afternoon of sharing stories and experiences converged in a landscape of signs and signals, activated in the medina's streets through a participatory march.
The event took place during the Qanat symposium Performing Change from the Margins at LE18, Marrakech.
